This time, Olly expressed his desires to lead a monthly rambling group in the village where he lives, but gives in to his anxieties and 'debilitating dyspraxia'. It was a great story from what seems to be a fun regular feature in the magazine, and one I hope to illustrate again in the future.
America Man v. Iron Guy
In the run up to the release of Captain America: Civil War, I took some inspiration from the movie and recreated Captain America and Iron Man. It was intended as a warm-up, to get my creative juices flowing before I started my client work. I used no image reference and made no preliminary sketches - I just jumped straight in to collaging lines, shapes & textures together to make up the characters.
It was a lot more fun than I anticipated and would like to do a few more Misfit Superheroes over the coming months.
Spider Pants vs. The Incredulous Bulk
While I was studying for my illustration degree, one of my lovely tutors exposed me to the wonders of mid-century Polish circus poster design. They were so playful and loose and funny and charming, I fell in love instantly and, as a result, very quickly changed the way I approached my own work and viewed illustration as a medium.
